Godzillaaaaa [open to multiple]

There's something new about the city this afternoon. It's not particularly hard to miss. At about noon, a giant scaled figure emerges from the Hudson River, emits a loud screeching roar, and heads for central park.
It's Godzilla, straight out of the 1954 Toho film.
Or, rather, that's what it looks like. Gabriel has a scheme, and this scheme involves in-fluxing a little bit of fun into this city with a grand-scale illusion. His idea of fun might need some work, by human standards, but this is exactly the thing for him at the moment. There are news reports on the radio and television, both in English and in Japanese, but they aren't given by any newscasters anyone in New York might be familiar with, because Gabriel is projecting them.
As Godzilla shakes the water off it's back and walks onto the island, Gabriel pulls out his phone and texts Peter. He really needs him involved with this.
[ooc: Godzilla will make his way across the city, having a good smash. Feel free to run into it anywhere. As this is Gabe's illusion, any interactions with Godzilla will be controlled by Gabriel, even if he's not nearby. People Gabriel doesn't like might want to avoid getting underfoot, or else they'll feel the bone crunching effects of being stepped on, even if nothing has actually happened.]
[for seth]
"You see why I might need some help."
wheeee
Gabriel really needs to learn how to give more than 5 second warnings when doing that, especially when he keeps putting Seth in terrifying situations.
For a moment he just gapes at it. At least they're not on ground level, but Seth isn't sure closer to eye level is actually any better.
"And how the fuck am I supposed to help with that?" he asks, a tad hoarsely.
no subject
He pulls a longbow out of nowhere. It shines, golden and glowing with unnatural light. The quiver of arrows, likewise, seem otherworldly. Gabriel offers them up with little ceremony. Their appearance should do the explaining for him. "They were created for human hands. I can't use 'em."
no subject
"You couldn't have gotten me a celestial handgun or something?," he asks, still pretty intensely skeptic about this. The only reason he's not flat-out panicking or running away is because, well, at this point he mostly trusts Gabe not to let Seth get killed.
no subject
He hoists the quiver onto Seth's shoulder for him. "Got it?"
no subject
And he really, really wishes he had time to actually discuss everything, like who else is fighting, and what's Godzilla's weak points, and how is he supposed to avoid dying? He's not exactly enthusiastic about killing, and not sure what counts as wanting to. He wants to avoid a giant lizard invading the city, but he also kind of wants someone else to deal with it. Don't they have an army or something? Then again, he technically has superpowers and an angel at his side.
"Got it," he answers after a few moments of all these thoughts whizzing chaotically through his head. Okay then. He'll improvise. "I'll watch your back if you watch mine." Aka please don't let him get killed, Gabe.
no subject
"I'm going to help you save this city. It'll make a change from selling drugs to make it worse, right?" Yeah, he's making a guess here, but it's a very pointed guess. Doesn't Seth want to be doing something to help people?
no subject
"I really hope you don't intend to discuss that subject right now," Seth answers. He's not exactly been forthright and sharing with Gabe on the subject, but he isn't gonna bother denying it, as he doesn't feel particularly defensive about it. (Especially since two seconds ago, Gabe was telling him how he really needs to want to kill.)
He pulls an arrow out of the quiver and rests it against his hand, pulling it back a little, testing the firmness of the bow. It does feel surprisingly natural in his hands, so he's going to trust Gabriel's statement that it's, well, basically magical. "Do we have a plan?"
no subject
He raises an eyebrow in Seth's direction. "Aim for the giant lizard." Okay, probably not the most helpful, but he thinks it's funny. "The eyes, preferably. Might want to wait till it gets closer."
no subject
"And you're gonna, what, distract it?" he asks, carefully aiming at Godzilla, lowering the bow again, then aiming again, to get a feel for it. And taking deep breaths to try to remain (relatively) calm.

Before Seth can answer, he lets his tiny model grow to gigantic proportions and wing off of the building. It's wings faze directly through buildings as it passes them. This is less a flaw in its design, and more a feature designed to stop Seth thinking that the other monster is Gabriel's creation as well.
no subject
The lizard still isn't close enough for Seth to get a good shot in, though, so for now he just watches, adjusting his grip. "So, what do you think their cover story is gonna be this time?" he asks, not taking his eyes off the two giants. "Publicity stunt? Terrorist attack combined with hallucinogenic drugs?"
no subject
Godzilla is almost near their building. Mothra flies through the building itself, and up. As it escapes, Godzilla roars in it's direction, and the foul smell of it's breath blows across the rooftop strong enough that Gabriel has to secure his footing.
"I'm going to try to hold him." Gabriel walks to the edge of the roof and holds up his hands. The moment Godzilla reaches them, a shimmering aura surrounds the beast on all sides. It seems like a horrible strain for Gabriel. He can barely speak to tell Seth what to do. "Seth. Fire...now."
no subject
He realises quickly that he shouldn't have drawn the arrow back that early, as the effort of holding it makes him jitter enough that when he lets go, the arrow goes too far to the right, hitting the lizard at an angle and glancing off his hide. Or maybe he just didn't want to kill it strong enough, who knows.
Seth lets out a swear and hurries to ready another arrow.
no subject
Before Seth can loose another arrow, the barrier drops.
Godzilla presses through immediately and into the building. The corner of the roof crumbles away, taking Gabriel with it. As the monster screeches out a roar, Gabriel yells in a panic. He's hanging off of the edge about five feet down from the edge, clutching to an errant piece of rebar that had been pulled from the concrete structure.
no subject
Except then he hears Gabriel's cry, and he realises that for some reason he can't. Perhaps he used up all his energy with the barrier. Making a snap judgement, Seth lets the arrow fly - not towards the eye, a small moving target easy to miss - but towards its chest, where it's guaranteed to hit.
Seth's already running to Gabriel's side when the arrow pierces the lizard's hide. Hardly enough to kill, but it does make Godzilla recoil with pain (or annoyance, who knows), giving Seth time to slide to his knees near the edge, looking down. "Gabe!"
no subject
Mothra has long disappeared from the sky, signalling that Gabriel doesn't have the strength left even to maintain an illusion. Godzilla is distracted for a moment by the arrow in it's chest. It seems to have had some sort of effect, but not really enough to take it down. It screeches, and the building rumbles in response. Gabriel tries to adjust his hands on the rebar, but his grip it slipping. "Seth-" His face goes deadly serious, "You know what to do. There was a reason I chose you. You're a good man." The corner of his mouth ticks up into the ghost of a smirk. "Thousands of years. I never would have bet on it ending like this."
Godzilla, recovered, bumps against the building. It sends a terrible tremor throughout the whole structure that caps off at Gabriel's last hand-hold. The metal bar shakes him free and he drops out of sight.
no subject
As Gabe starts monologuing at him, the words barely register, Seth being single-mindedly focused on what to do. And then...
"Gabe!" Seth desperately starts to reach out, but he's already gone.
He only has time for a moment of numb shock before another tremor threatens to topple him over the edge, and he shuffles back, getting to his feet, breathless.
no subject
It inhales, and exhales fire in Seth's direction. The blue-hot flames move too quickly across the rooftop for him to escape. The air heats quickly and it seems that Seth is doomed to a worse fate than Gabriel.
At the last moment, something happens. The bow that Seth is holding projects a forcefield surrounding him. It holds as long as the flames do. In the charred remains of the rooftop, Seth is still alive and close enough to Godzilla for a decent shot.
no subject
Seth isn't feeling particularly inspired though. Mostly he's feeling pissed and shell-shocked. And then he's feeling panicked and over-heated. Pure instinct makes him raise his arm to shield himself, making himself intangible, though he doubts it will work. For a moment he thinks it does, but then he realises that's not what's holding off the flames.
Gabe's last way of rescuing Seth, then. The thought that this stupid, bloody lizard has cost the life of someone who actually looked out for Seth, in his own obnoxious, cheesy way, brings the anger to forefront again.
Seth takes out another arrow, pulling it back in a fluid motion and aiming for just a moment, trusting Gabriel's word that his will is enough, and lets it fly straight at Godzilla's eye. "Fuck you too," he breathes, because Gabe would've wanted a one-liner.

The area of scales around Godzilla's eye begin to shift color, sickly green turning to a burning orange that spreads. The eye, already punctured, is replaced by a burning ember as the rest of the body transforms, burning away from the inside. It's a horrible sight, but it doesn't last long. Godzilla staggers and falls, in the process falling into a building that crumbles at the impact. The monster is dead before it hits the ground.
no subject
Once Godzilla has hit the ground and the building underneath his feet stops trembling, he walks over to the edge, peering cautiously down the side of the building, but it's impossible to tell if he can see Gabe's body down there.
His eyes move to the giant lizard corpse. That's gonna be one hell of a clean-up job...
"Fuck me..." he comments numbly, taking a ragged breath before looking around, then heading for the door that presumably leads to the stairs.

As the music comes to a close, Gabriel appears behind Seth, sitting in a row of plush red theatre seats. He applauds, grinning.
no subject
Until, of course, he hears applause behind him, and he whips around.
"Gabe!" His face breaks into a relieved grin. However, the smile quickly starts to fade when he realises this surely isn't Gabriel narrowly avoiding death. There seems to be nothing wrong with his powers now, after all.
