love is how we cope [closed]
It's early in the morning, and Gabriel is debating with himself about whether Johnny will be up yet.
It's been a few days since they've spent any time together. As much as he knows that taking a step back and taking things slower has been good for Johnny, he misses having him around all the time. He's happy to watch Johnny improve and slowly get used to what they have, but today being alone is wearing at him. He's antsy and can see his mood becoming something more manic if he doesn't get out of the apartment soon. Objectively, he knows that its the city that makes him feel trapped, not the building, but he gets up and gets ready anyway.
He puts on a suit. Something that Johnny will like, but nothing too flashy, because he's going out. He takes Scout out for a walk. He goes shopping. When he comes back, it's still before noon.
He could go out again, but instead he raps once at Johnny's door before shouldering his way in. Scout, already off his leash, runs in after him.
"Hey sweetcheeks, get up." He dumps his bags on the counter and pulls out a few things to stock Johnny's fridge while Scout goes searching for Yarrow. A half-gallon of milk he sets on the counter instead of putting it in the fridge. He's got plans for that. "I got you somethin'." From the last bag, he pulls out two boxes and turns the first around on the counter to look at the front of the box before he opens it up. "Never used one of these before, but you've gotta admire the sheer capitalistic waste of the thing. Thought it'd be as easy for you as those disgusting coffee crystals you use. There's these little pods-" He tears open the package and pulls out the shiny red machine to plug it in. "...and you can have coffee or espresso." He nudges at the second box. "And I got you a milk-frother so you can do cappuccino."
While Gabriel rambles on and fiddles with the coffee machine, Scout realizes that Yarrow is up on the bed with Johnny, so he jumps up and climbs over Johnny to find his rabbit buddy.
"So. Coffee, and then we can go out. Maybe to lunch? It's almost noon."
