Gabriel hates that she feels as trapped as she does here, but if he's helping to alleviate some of that discomfort there's no way he's going to stop trying to make things better for her and for them. She's already helped him over and over, and still is helping him. He dips his head and smiles to feel her gratefulness.

"Undeniably." he answers, feeling smugly pleased by her attention and glad for her company. "Do I need to tell you how much you've improved my time here, or is that one of those things that's so obvious it doesn't need to be brought up?" There was the part where she helped to save his life, but since then she's filled in the gap where otherwise the silence in his mind might have been too much to bear quietly.
