Jodie sits down and plucks a blade of grass, twirling it between her fingertips for a few moments until Aiden tugs it free and commences playing with it, tumbling it around and curling it into weird shapes. It's the sort of thing he would have done in the backyard when they were still living with her parents - the sort of thing she would have scolded him for, worried someone like her father would see. She doesn't scold him, now. He's keeping it low enough to the ground that she doubts anyone besides Andrew will notice a single misbehaving blade of grass.
