"Not as many as you might think," says Bee, keeping a careful eye on the sidewalk as well, not so much out of caution but simply out of habit. "It was fairly easy, really. You have to get permission from the Department of Health or something like that, and make sure there's a water source."

She notices Jennifer watching the ground and says, "Oh, don't worry about me. I almost never wear shoes. My feet are tough - and I know what to watch for." She smiles encouragingly.
