Gabriel recognizes the crow as Daine when she settles onto the windowsill, but he's a little surprised that she's shown up at all. When she's found him broken and grieving in the park she's offered to let Scout play with Sarge and Molly again, but he hadn't thought that that offer would actually extend to him.

The voice coming out of the crow makes him smile. "Christmas lights! Do ya like 'em? Some people do a couple strands of white ones, but what fun is that?"
