Gabriel lets out a breath slowly, then nods. He believes that Johnny is telling him the truth. A month or two ago he might not have meant it, but now Johnny's voice has conviction in it. He's staying and Gabriel can relax a little.

He huffs out a breath and leans forward enough to drop his head onto Johnny's shoulder. "Okay."

Scout takes this moment to stand up and lick Gabriel's face. He smiles and pulls back to pet Scout, putting his focus there for a moment. "Okay. time for you to go take a nap." He kisses the dog on the head and then sets him down onto the floor. Scout seems to consider the whole nap idea for a moment before heading towards the kitchen instead. Gabriel watches him for a moment before finally raising his gaze to look Johnny in the eye.

This is so hard to even think about, and he doesn't know where to go from here. It would be easier to step away from the conversation entirely, just hold Johnny for the rest of the night. Talk about anything else. He smiles and brushes a hand back into Johnny's hair. "Why don't we forget all this? I can make some more cocoa. Got a stack of Christmas movies ready to go."
