Event: the Bother with Bunnies

On the morning of May 6th, 2013, the citizens of Rift York will awaken to find themselves with a new and unexpected roommate. Or two. Or five. The good news: these new roommates don't eat much, they're quiet, and they're pretty adorable. The bad news: no one asked for their homes to be overrun by Angora rabbits.

The rift isn't in the habit of giving people what they ask for, though, so you're just going to have to deal with these bunnies everywhere until the evening of May 8th, when they will disappear as mysteriously and suddenly as they arrived. In the meantime, you might consider them a goodwill gesture from a rift that isn't always so kind. The rabbits seem to be most heavily concentrated in areas where rifties are staying, after all. While Manhattan at large might not appreciate the full extent of the bunnypocalypse, the rifties will find the creatures quite difficult to avoid.

Feel free to post your character's reactions here, or to make your own entries under the event tag. The event will be running for the next two days in-game, or through January 19th in real life. As ever, backdating is allowed and encouraged.

Edgar blinks. She did say apartment before. Did you see a lot of these between the apartments and here?

"No." Sunshine frowns. To be honest, she hadn't been paying very close attention. It had been enough of a chore to keep the animals in the basket and convince a cab driver to take her here. She didn't see any in the hallways or the elevator on the way out, but that doesn't mean the other units were bunny-free.

… Oh, hell. Does this mean Spike just had a handful of rabbits rift-lifted right onto his kitchen table? She cringes at the thought of him just… ugh. No. She can't exactly disapprove of his human-free diet, but this is just unfair for the poor creatures. Bad enough to be displaced by the rift and have Spike be the first kali thing you encounter without also being something he'd willingly devour.

"I have to go," she says abruptly, tipping the laundry basket with her foot so that both of the rabbits tumble out. "Can you, uh, watch these guys for me?"

Peeta sees the expression on Sunshine's face shift toward worry, but he's still a little surprised when she suddenly announces her departure.

Uh, sure. I'll just add them to the collection, he says, throwing a thumb over his shoulder at the half-dozen or more currently wandering the hall.

"Thanks. I'll… probably be back with more." Hopefully. Assuming they haven't already become breakfast for the resident vampire lite.

It occurs to her to wonder if she should be bringing them here, but where else is anyone supposed to bring them? They don't seem that starved for space down here, and rabbits live underground, right?

"Maybe I'll see you around - Edgar, right?" She nods down at Almondine, adding, "Cute dog." Then she releases his hand and retrieves her empty laundry basket. She's probably going to need it.

Edgar nods and gives her a little wave when she lets go of his hand. He and Almondine share a look. Her new charges have not move to join the other rabbits in the hallway, but have rotated position around her like little furry planets around a larger furry sun.
