[OPEN] Green Means Go

Bruce is slowly acquainting himself with this version of New York City. He tries to spend as much time as he can in his labs, but there is only so much that can be done in a day. Sometimes, science requires patience, sitting back and letting things happen.

Also, there is the very real possibility that he will spend the rest of his life here. Bruce doesn't intend to spend it alone, isolated from the people of this world. He's had enough of that in his life. As difficult as it is for him, Bruce knows he has to make connections and find people who are willing to accept both him and the Hulk.

He needs the Hulk to learn how to quickly tell friend from foe.

Unfortunately, Bruce's deep thoughts mean he is not paying enough attention to his surroundings. He crosses the road at the last moments before the crossing light changes from "walk" to "don't walk." Unfortunately, a car also speeds towards him, barely pausing at a stop sign.

The result is Bruce getting hit in the side by the car and going flying over the hood.

This wakes the Hulk up.

Hulk ignores the driver, who gets out of the car to help Bruce and then flees, when he sees the Hulk. Instead, the Hulk focuses on the man's car, pummeling it angrily and tearing it into pieces. This only takes a few moments, then Hulk stops and looks around the street. People are screaming and running, but, so far, no one is trying to hurt Hulk or shooting stupid bullets.

"Well I don't see much of anything that looks like it means to smash back," Aly stays her course, putting on her best nanny face.

"Now why don't we just leave this be before those nasty people come."

She really doesn't fancy having to knife anyone into silence.

"Nasty people always come," Hulk agrees. "Hulk not know ROMAC. Help girl escape?"

It's Hulk who needs help escaping, Yuri thinks, but for the life of him he can't think what to do about it. They can hardly take him to the rebel base; there's already a nervous crowd gathering to stare, and even if they dcould get there unobserved, he doubts Hulk could fit through the door.

"I don't know where to take him," he confesses to the girl.

[aly_brighteyes]

"Yes! Very good idea!" Aly encourages the Hulk. Anything to prompt him to leave the scene. "You can even make it look like you've kidnapped me and run off if you like?"

She glances over at her new ally. "Let's go as far off as we can make it."

Hulk snorts. "Hulk not care what puny humans think. Hulk strongest!"

He reaches down to lift her up, being careful.

"Oh, God." Yuri doesn't like this one bit. Regardless of the fact that it's not him Hulk is reaching for, he skitters away nervously. His mind has gone blank -- there has to be somewhere for them to run to, but he can't think where. "Don't hurt her!" he bleats at Hulk.

[aly_brighteyes]

If necessary, Aly has some sharp implements to better encourage Hulk to gentleness, but he does seem to be quite careful and so she doesn't worry.

"Let's go...um." She needs to better memorize the city. "We'll go smash things at a dump until we think of someplace better. Is that all right?"

Hulk glares at the puny man.

"Hulk not smash girl. Hulk not stupid, like puny man!"

Hulk snorted at the girl.

"Hulk not want to smash smelly garbage."

Alright, being told off by a giant green man with a fixation on smashing...actually stings a bit. "I'm not -- you're the one wanting to smash stuff," he says defensively, still keeping his distance. If they take off without him, he's not sure he'll be able to keep up. Maybe he should go for help anyway.

"Trees?" he suggests, wincing at the thought of it but figuring it's better than smashing cars and people.

"Trees!" Aly agrees. She holds herself limp in the Hulk's hand, as if in a swoon.

"Let's go either way!"

"Hulk knows good place with trees," he promises. He starts to leap away, but then looks down at the puny man. "Puny man run from ROMAC?"

"Uh." Yuri eyes the pair of them nervously. He kind of doesn't want to get left out when he thinks he can help -- though then he could go for help. As far as the question goes, he figures honesty is the best policy. "I guess? When they're after me?"

"Yes, yes, just go!" They've been absurdly lucky thus far that Romac hasn't caught them debating so she switches tack, batting eyelashes at the man on the ground.

"Come and keep me safe!"

Her comment earns a mean chuckle from the Hulk. He lifts Yuri, saying, "Puny man not keep girl safe. Hulk keep safe!"

With that he begins leaping away heading for Central Park.

The sound Yuri makes can best be described as a strangled yelp. That is a really big hand that just scooped him up, and he sort of expects to be squished at any moment.

Then the leaping starts. Yuri really can't help himself; he screams at the top of his lungs.

The soaring feeling makes Aly's stomach lurch, but she's not worried overmuch. She's dealt with plenty worse in the hands of a less than careful trickster god.

Pretending to be afraid, she flails and bobbles a little, but it's all show.

"Stop screaming! HULK HATE SCREAMING!" Hulk roared as he continued leaping over the miles separating them from the park. He ignored the girl, for now. Puny humans were always afraid, but at least she didn't scream or fight Hulk.

Fortunately for Yuri, he has to stop screaming long enough to catch his breath...and to hear what Hulk is yelling at him. He still yelps as they launch off again on the next leap, his insides lurching at the rise and fall, but the fact that Aly isn't screaming makes him ashamed enough of himself to try to bottle it up.

Aly wonders if it makes her a bit mad now that she's actually begun to enjoy the soaring sensation. Certainly, she's glad for the unique views of the city–it's always nice to consider new vantage points–but a sane person would likely be quite afraid right now.

Hulk is glad when screaming stops. He takes them as deep into the woods of Central Park as he can, then comes to a halt, landing beside a thick nest of trees and uprooting several saplings. He sets the two down, smiling proudly.

Yuri has something of a death grip on Hulk's arm, so it takes him a moment to dislodge himself once the green giant moves to set them down. He staggers once his feet meet the ground, and fetches up against a tree to support himself. "I don't think I liked that ride," he says weakly, trying to make a joke of it.

Thinking of her time on a slave ship, Aly smiles grimly. "I've had worse."

[beastisbeauty]

Hulk grumbles a little at the pressure on his arm, but hunches down close to the humans.

"Hulk not ride. Puny humans safe now."

[stronglikebear]

"No, no," Yuri agrees hastily, still hanging onto his new friend, the tree. "Course you're not."

[aly_brighteyes]

"Yes, but you were a wonderful help in escaping." Aly perks an ear and sharpens her Sight, checking to see if they've been followed. Certainly Romac will be able to nip up their trail, but if they can stay hidden for a few moments longer that will suit her well.

"Hulk, do you think you can wait to smash? Just until we know we're safe?"
