Bruce is slowly acquainting himself with this version of New York City. He tries to spend as much time as he can in his labs, but there is only so much that can be done in a day. Sometimes, science requires patience, sitting back and letting things happen.

Also, there is the very real possibility that he will spend the rest of his life here. Bruce doesn't intend to spend it alone, isolated from the people of this world. He's had enough of that in his life. As difficult as it is for him, Bruce knows he has to make connections and find people who are willing to accept both him and the Hulk.

He needs the Hulk to learn how to quickly tell friend from foe.

Unfortunately, Bruce's deep thoughts mean he is not paying enough attention to his surroundings. He crosses the road at the last moments before the crossing light changes from "walk" to "don't walk." Unfortunately, a car also speeds towards him, barely pausing at a stop sign.

The result is Bruce getting hit in the side by the car and going flying over the hood.

This wakes the Hulk up.

Hulk ignores the driver, who gets out of the car to help Bruce and then flees, when he sees the Hulk. Instead, the Hulk focuses on the man's car, pummeling it angrily and tearing it into pieces. This only takes a few moments, then Hulk stops and looks around the street. People are screaming and running, but, so far, no one is trying to hurt Hulk or shooting stupid bullets.

Yuri is the type of person who, when he sees a man get hit by a car, immediately drops the poptart he was eating and runs to help. He didn't spot Bruce before it happened, and then everything is moving very quickly -- he doesn't know this is a rifty, let alone one he's met, but his heart leaps into his throat nonetheless.

"Are you ok --" he starts to call out, but stops abruptly, halting in the middle of the crosswalk and staring. Is he...? Flinching as the now gigantic (and green) man sets to work destroying the car, Yuri backs up several hasty steps and reaches for his phone with a trembling hand.

Hulk spots the young man and approaches, growling. The young man is the only one with something in his hand and experience tells Hulk it is probably a weapon. He roars at the puny human in warning.

Aly hears shouting and immediately seals herself into the shadows to get a better look at the situation. The raging green form scares her, reminds her of some of the more frightening immortals that plagued her childhood, but something else flickers in her Sight. Her eyes tell her that some part of this creature is human.

Interesting.

She walks forward, the fear on her face genuine, but with curiosity burning in her.

Hulk roars, waiting for someone to challenge him. Someone always does. Hulk isn't magic, so can't see through spells, but it doesn't matter. Sooner or later, someone or something will begin, bullets will fly...and Hulk will smash.

It must be a little like when she had to look into the eyes of the gods, Aly thinks. Only they could have been reasoned with. She isn't so sure this time. Still, Aly holds her ground. The quaver in her voice, however, is genuine.

"Are you going to keep yelling?"

"Stupid car try to smash puny Banner. Make Hulk mad!"

Hulk picks the car up and throws it into a nearby alley.

"Oh, shit!" It doesn't actually come anywhere near him, but Yuri dodges away instinctively. While he's been dithering with his phone, a young woman has stepped forward and...started talking to him?

"Get back!" he calls to her, afraid she's going to get smashed.

Aly's nimbler than that, though she's playing clumsy but when the car flies, she throws herself quickly out of the way. Aly moves back to her feet slowly, looking over at the damage she's witnessing.

"Yes, that wasn't clever of the car at all," she agrees. "But this is a terrible mess."

If she's going to die, she's going to do it arguing.

Hulk turns and roars at the shouting, puny man, unsure if he is being challenged. Hulk doesn't see guns, but puny man has something in his hand and Hulk glares at it.

Hulk spots the woman and stops roaring. She said mess, something Banner often complains about. Looking around, Hulk sees bits and pieces from the car and just make out the wreck of the car, where it landed on the alley. He finds these things quite satisfying! But, since woman is talking and not trying to hurt Hulk, Hulk will talk back.

"What puny human want?"

Yuri swallows thickly and glances down at his phone, torn between calling for help and going to retrieve this apparently suicidal woman. He opts for the former, glancing at the pair nervously as he tries to punch in a number with shaking fingers.

[aly_brighteyes]

"Well I did want to cross the street," Aly replies plainly. She shrugs.

"But you broke it."

"Cross street?" Hulk asks, not really understanding, partly because he is still distracted by Yuri. Hulk makes a show of growling in Yuri's direction, giving him warning. "Street not broke. Car broke."

The Hulk's growling is far from unnoticed. Yuri keeps glancing up to see where the giant green man is and what he's doing, and just happens to be looking just when the guy snarls at him. Taking a hasty step back, Yuri fumbles his phone and drops it. "Shit!"

[aly_brighteyes]

"Yes, well there's a very great fuss happening, as you might observe." Aly smooths her dress as if she's still a serving girl.

Hulk sees the phone fall and smirks in triumph. Jumping forward, he brings his foot down hard on the phone, grinding it's remains into the pavement.

"Hulk not fuss. Hulk smash!"

Yuri scrambles back out of the way, too busy running for his life to ponder why this woman is so unconcerned about the giant green man. "Don't smash me!" he yelps, holding his arms up like he could somehow fend the guy off.

"Quite right." Aly glanced between the creature, apparently called Hulk, and the man. "No more smashing."

And if the creature isn't amenable to that, then she's a very fast runner.

"Hulk smash puny weapon!" he crowed, smirking. "Hulk still strongest!"

At her words, Hulk turned towards the girl, looking almost stricken.

"No smashing?" he repeated, astounded and sad.

Okay, maybe this was actually a bit beyond Yuri's abilities. Seeing the Hulk distracted, he scrambled to come join Aly at her side, since she seemed to know what she was doing. "Do you know this guy?" he asked.

[aly_brighteyes]

"No, but he's obstructing traffic," Aly replies, putting on her blandest face. Really, she's dealt with tantrums before, human and divine.

"Why don't we find somewhere else to smash where cars won't honk at you?" Surely there's a garbage dump somewhere where he can be left to smash to his heart's content?

The Hulk comes closer, but, for him, slowly, not wanting to make the girl scream, like other puny humans. He ignores the puny man, now that the puny man's weapon is gone.

"Girl smash with Hulk?"

"Smash what?" asks Yuri plaintively, looking back and forth between the two of them. Apartment buildings, his brain supplies. The zoo. People's offices or the subway. Not good.

[aly_brighteyes]

"Well," Aly says reasonably, looking over at the other man. "What about a dump or a scrap pile? Then he'll be smashing things that are meant to be ruined anyway."

It seems like a perfectly good solution to her.

Hulk snorts. "Hulk not want to smash stupid junk. Want to smash things try to smash back!"

"I don't know where any are --" Yuri starts to say, but he's cut off by the Hulk's objection anyway. "We can't stay out here," he says, turning his attention back to the green man. "Romac's gonna be out here any time and try to take you in."
